  1. Do Not: Connect a lighted Christmas tree topper or novelty sets of Christmas tree lights into other end to end plugs. Lighted Christmas tree toppers and novelty Christmas light sets usually have 10 to 30 Christmas lights. Following the mixing of lights rule, you cannot connect a Christmas tree topper or novelty set of Christmas lights to other sets of end to end Christmas lights and expect the Christmas lights to burn long, premature burn out is almost a given. Use a dedicated plug outlet in an extension cord to accommodate the varying Christmas light sets.
  2. Always: When applying strings of Christmas lights, it is always best to apply the Christmas tree lights while lit. This allows for even distribution of Christmas lighting and if there is a loose Christmas light bulb or technical problem, it is easy to find at this time.
  3. It is always recommended that Christmas light sets be plugged into a surge protector light bar. This serves as a deterrent to overload. Christmas light surge protector bars are included in all GKI/Bethlehem Christmas trees over 6 feet.
  4. Miniature Christmas light sets and bulbs Are Not interchangeable. It is always recommended that you use Christmas lights from one manufacturer, namely GKI / Bethlehem Christmas lighting.
  5. When replacing burned out Christmas light bulbs in a Christmas light set, use only the appropriate bulb for the specific Christmas light set. Example: You would not replace a 35 Christmas light set bulb with a 50 Christmas light set bulb. Reason: A 35 Christmas light set uses a 3.5 volt bulb whereas a 50 Christmas light set uses a 2.5 volt bulb. This rule and application is consistent with all Christmas lights.
